Mark Douple and I led half of this one-hour session on exercise. We got them up, moving, and sweating. Besides allowing the girls to take a break from some of the heavier topics of the day, we wanted the girls to walk away with a few exercises they could do at home to stay healthy and active.
Kicking off our hour with “chairs in the back, desks in the middle. We need space!”
Mark demonstrating the first exercise. This one is a short, easy, fun, and effective activity. A simple wall sit, three times a day, while you brush your teeth. That’s a toothbrush in Mark’s mouth as he demonstrates a regular morning exercise while brushing his teeth.
Diana and the students practicing brushing their teeth while doing a wall sit.
Yoga
Sam Weiss led yoga for the next half hour as a cool down.
Some stretching and breathing…
Sam showing the “cobbler’s pose.” The focus of this pose on breathing and self-reflection.
The girls trying it on their own. I can confirm its effectiveness. I didn’t even do the exercise and felt calm after
